Mandaluyong orders mandatory drug test

MANILA, Philippines - "As far as drugs is concerned, we will show no mercy."Mandaluyong City Mayor Benhur Abalos made this statement Monday after announcing the mandatory drug testing of all city hall employees and police personnel. The week-long drug test, from Nov. 15-19, will be done at the third floor of the City Hall Executive Building.In coordination with the Department of Health (DoH), the city government's 3,862 employees will be summoned for the drug test on the actual day without prior announcement.Abalos also ordered the inclusion of Mandaluyong City Police personnel, public school teachers and employees under the prosecution office in the drug testing activity."The point here is that the government should show that as far as illegal drugs is concerned, there should really be no mercy and it should start from it's own backyard," Abalos said.As stated in Memorandum Circular No.
